In most situations, it is best to have both parents play an active roll in the child or children’s life or lives. It is important for children to know that both of their parents love and care about them. I t is important that the children feel that their parents respect each other.

On the other hand, there exist those situations where the children are endangered by the actions or activities of one of the parents, where that parent seems to have no concern for the child's safety and well being, or no apparent ability to since when there actions, associations, habits or life style may be placing the children in danger.
